Gorillaz - Superfast Jellyfish

This wasn't my first earworm this morning. But someone starting singing it and then it got stuck.

Don't waste time, Kim.

Butthole Surfers - Pepper

If you don't know the Butthole Surfers, then you should.

Awesome Idea!

I just had an awesome idea:

Someone should mashup Rush with Bush!

Or get the members of Bush to sing Rush songs, which would sound so awful that it might be good.

They could be called 'Brush'!

Violent Femmes - American Music

Do I like American Music?

I'll say 'yes' as long as Fall Out Boy doesn't count as American Music.

I would rather drink a bucket of warm spit than listen to Fall Out Boy.

Love Bites - Def Leppard

Someone should open a vampire-themed cupcake bar and name it "Love Bites".

That might be the most awesomeness idea I've ever had.

Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline

It's a shame this has become a default Karaoke song for me now. I only sing it because the crowd does that "Da da DAA! So good, so good, so good!"

Ratt - Round and Round

Why the extra 'T', Ratt? Was the regular 'rat' not metal enough? Not glam enough?

Was there a band meaning where someone said, "Guys, we need another T. I'm serious. We are a glam band. The extra T will give us that extra glam!"

And someone agreed with him.

Joe Pug - Nation of Heat

The mighty Joe Pug won't leave my brain today.

His single, Nation of Heat, raises some deep, protesting genes that have laid dormant in my DNA. It makes me want to burn signs of politicians, steal money from churches, and refer a soldier to counseling.

I won't actually do any of those things but I want to.

Kings of Leon - Be Somebody

I think I need to stop doing this blog.

When I wake up now, I will have one song in my head for about 5 minutes. Then about 7 other songs all try to mix in at the same time.

Yesterday, it was Blondie, Modest Mouse, and Dream Theater all jumbled together. By the time I was trying to post to the blog, my internal soundtrack was a mess.

Journey - Don't Stop Believing

You know this Monday could possibly be the most awesome Monday ever.

Because I don't stop believing.

Happy Birthday Robert Plant

I really don't want this blog to turn into a "This day in rock" site.

But I do want to recognize one of the greatest heads of hair in rock 'n roll history.

He also sang pretty good.

Kaiser Cheifs - I Predict a Riot

At what point will the indie rock bands figure out that they are now mainstream?

Then there will be a riot but an indie rock band riot will just be weirdly-bearded guys standing around talking about the lack of existentialism in their music.

Kings of Leon - Revelry

I enjoy Kings of Leon and even saw them in concert.

I have a feeling that they are about 2 years away from sucking badly.

Ratt - Round and Round

Nothing like starting your Friday with some Ratt.

8/03/2010

Rush - Fly by Night

I still don't get why Rush is that popular. Yeah, I know Getty Lee is unique and progressive and bleh.

He sounds like a little kid!

Roy Orbison - In Dreams

I assume this song wasn't written to be creepy, but if you really listen to it... it is.

"A candy-colored clown tiptoes to my window..."

Kinda creepy, Roy. Kinda creepy.

Jimi Hendrix - Dolly Dagger

Starting your day with Jimi is like starting your day with bacon.

It's salty, delicious and gives you the energy you need.

Not sure why I'm writing a commercial for Jimi Hendrix Bacon™.

Iron & Wine - Friends They Are Jewels

In this song, Sam Beam tells his Granny to lay her pistol down.

I wish my grandparents had been that interesting.

Iron & Wine - Peng! 33

This song uses the word "prodigious".

Which is so prodigious.
