Sublime - Bad Fish

I didn't listen to Sublime all day yesterday. I believe they are now a permanent part of my brain.

8/28/2008

Ramones - Needles and Pins

Ramones are one of those middle-of-the-road bands for me. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't.

8/27/2008

Allman Brothers - Whipping Post

Once again... I think this song is permanently attached to my brain.

Thank god it's not Fall-Out Boy, then I'd be suicidal.

Mason Jennings - Fourteen Pictures

I'm surprised Mason hasn't made it into an earworm yet. Mason has such a smooth voice and acoustic style. I'm a big fan.

Darrell again wins for getting me started on Mr. Jennings.

The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Today's lyrics were just:

"Eeeoooooo. Eeeoooooo."

8/24/2008

Phoebe Buffay - Smelly Cat

I wish I could find the punk rock version of this song, but this is close enough.

8/22/2008

Queens Of The Stone Age - Suture Up Your Future

My boys, once again hitting today's earworm...

Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl

Crap. I knew this song would show up here eventually.

What I like about this song: the beat.

What I hate about this song: everything else.

Sublime - Little District

There isn't a video of Bradley singing this song. Just a bunch of non-Bradleys playing it, and none of them are worthy of this blog.

The Who - Behind Blue Eyes

Beautiful song this morning...

8/18/2008

Stevie Wonder - Can I Get a Witness

I'm not a big fan of soul, but this song is great.

8/17/2008

Queens of The Stone Age - Tangled Up In Plaid

Today's lyrics:

Gotta keep you all to myself
But you gotta be free
So free yourself

Allman Brothers - Whipping Post

You know, sometimes I do feel like I've been tied to the whipping post. No, really.

8/14/2008

Kaiser Cheifs - I Predict A Riot

Nice to see that British Rock 'n Roll is still alive and kickin'!

8/13/2008

Flobots - Rise

All praise to Dan for today's Earworm.

He got me started on the Flobots.

8/12/2008

Allman Brothers - Whipping Post

Yeah... that figures. It's been one of those weeks.

8/11/2008

Queens of the Stone Age - Quick and to the Pointless

An amazing live recording of Quick and to the Pointless... I didn't realize the bassist sings it.

8/10/2008

Foreigner - Hot Blooded

Awesome! Foreigner is one of those great, late-70s/80s bands that had so many solid hits.

This song made #3 in 1978.

Taj Mahal - Blue Light Boogie

I first heard this song on the Prairie Home Companion Radio show. My dad was a big fan of the show and he would listen to it all the time.

One episode they had Taj Mahal on and he did a few blues numbers. I think this was my first real exposure to the blues and I was instantly hooked. Taj played this tune on the piano and it was incredible.

I still have a copy of that recording on cassette tape! Thanks Dad!

Peeping Tom - How U Feeling?

Darrell gets full credit for today's Peeping Tom earworm. He's been telling me for years to listen to anything Mike Patton does. I finally got hooked when he played some "Lovage" for me.

Thanks Big D.

The Who - Love Ain't For Keeping

How about that? Another Who song. Why, I've only been listening to Who's Next non-stop for the past 3 days.

I was thinking this morning, the first time I ever heard a Who song was from my buddy, Jeff C. It was during one of our camping trips and he played Behind Blue Eyes.

The Who - Bargain

I'm only recently a Who fan. I mean "just a couple weeks" recent. But they are slowly becoming one of my favorite bands ever.

I know, I know. I should have been listening to them a long time ago. I'm always a little behind the curve.

8/05/2008

The Eagles - Take it to the Limit

My very first "real job" was at a computer shop called "Computers my Malone". We used to test the audio of CD drives by popping in The Eagles Greatest Hits.

What a way to learn some of the best classic rock songs ever.

8/04/2008

Pixies - Wave of Mutilation

My first introduction to the Pixies came from a little movie called Fight Club. You can't mention 90s alternative without mentioning the Pixies. Too bad they couldn't stick together.

Sheryl Crow - Soak Up the Sun

This song actually makes me want to go sit on a beach all day.

But I'd probably get a sunburn. It'd be worth it.
