Dr. Horrible - Laundry Day
That's right, Dr. Horrible. If you don't know Dr. Horrible already, then you're missing out. I won't judge you for it... much. Listen, it has NPH and Nathan Fillion AND Felicia Day AND Joss Wheadon.
Need I say more?

ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Man
Is every girl actually crazy for a sharp dressed man?
I mean, I don't doubt ZZ Top's philosophy. I sure they did plenty of market research when they developed the lyrics to this song.
Cuffs links? Stick pin? I when I step out I'm gonna do you in!
Those are not lyrics of failure, my friend.

Gnarls Barkley - Just a Thought
Today's lyrics:
I prefer peace
Wouldn't have to have one worldly possession
But essentially im an animal
So just what do i do with all the aggression?

Amos Lee - Bottom of the Barrel
I think Jamey got me started on Amos Lee.

Scorpions - Still Loving You
I bet you wish you woke up with such amazement playing inside your skull.

Queens of the Stone Age - Battery Acid
Sometimes my subconscious is amazing.

Weezer - Troublemaker
I used to love Weezer. They were my first concert. I still have my Weezer knit cap and, yes, I still wear it.
But then their bassist left... and they had a couple crappy albums. Suddenly my love for Weezer faded. Their new music sounded manufactured and not created. Nothing was catchy. And I really missed the old bassist!
So when Reagan brought me the Red Album and said, "Hey have you heard this yet?", I replied, "Uhh... I don't like Weezer anymore. I remember when they used to be cool."
She insisted I listen to it. Fine. Whatever. I still don't like Weezer, I think.

Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild
That's how I see it.

Sublime - Foolish Fool
Like "Duel worms" or "Double-tune" or "Twice Eared"... I kinda like Twice Eared. Maybe someday I'll get a THRICE EARED!

Sublime - Foolish Fool
I turned on Sublime while doing the dishes last night. So they were the last music I listened to... sure enough..

Sublime - Freeway Time in LA County Jail
This morning's lyrics were:
"With no protection for my erection, I won't get no VD!"

The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again
The thing that cracks me up about this video is that everyone is flying all over the stage, except John Entwistle. He's just standing there. His fingers sure are dancing!

Rolling Stones - Can't You Hear Me Knocking
I'll be the first person to make fun of the Rolling Stones. Sure, they're old. They've been around for - freakin' - ever.
But they still got it. Not many bands can stay together for half as long as the Stones have.
Keep it up, guys!

Yonder Mountain String Band - New Speedway Boogie
Bluegrass is about as country as I get.
I first was introduced to bluegrass from Lucas. He said, "Joe we gotta go to this concert."
Sure enough, YMSB blew me away. This is their rendition of The Greatful Dead's New Speedway Boogie.
Light em up!

Mastodon - Sleeping Giant
When Darrell first told me I should check out Mastodon, I was hesitant. Darrell likes metal. Darrell likes Slayer. Darrell likes a lot harder metal than Joe does.
However, I love Mastodon's Blood Mountain album... especially this track.

Flobots - Same Thing
"Saying the same thing over again..." The harmonies were on repeat in my brain this morning.

Taj Mahal - That's how strong my love is
This song was written in 1964 by Roosevelt Jamison. It's been covered by Otis Redding, The Rolling Stones and by, my favorite, Taj Mahal.
Today's earworm is this verse:
I'll be the weeping willow drowning in my tears
You can go swimming when you're here
I'll be the rainbow when the sun is gone
Wrap you in my colors and keep you warm

Flobots - Handlebars
I'm not sure what this song is about. Dan says it's about George Bush.
The video shows two men walking together and then splitting. Later they are opposed to each other.
Lately I've been thinking about the choices we make and the path that those choices puts us on.
I dunno.

elton john - can you feel the love tonight
Who doesn't like Lion King? or Elton John? or Elton John on a Lion King backdrop?
What a weird video...

Sublime - Boss D.J.
Today's lyric is one of my favorite. So simple.
"It's so nice, I wanna here the same song twice."

Beck - Paper Tiger
I'm a skipper. I have a ton of songs on my iPod and I usually play them all on random. I like the idea of Fate deciding what song I should here.
Except most of the time I say, "Hey Fate, I'm not in the mood for Hayseed Dixie. Skip it!"
So I will be riding in the car and have one finger hitting "Next Song" until I run across something I like. I will do this even for my most favorite of music.
Yesterday, I didn't skip Beck.

Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
There really wasn't a song in my head this morning... but then about 11 o'clock this song jumped in. Sweet.

Mississippi Queen
But then I finally heard the Mountain original... way better! Southern rock at it's grittiest and finest!
