The Look

Wow... my head doesn't like me today.

War

This song was written in 1969 as a protest to the Vietnam War. I think it could be released 30 years later.

Plastic Jesus

Cool Hand Luke... 'nuff said.

Orion

This morning the tune of Orion was running through my head.

Not the Metallica version (which is excellent), but the Rodrigo Y Gabriela version (which is most excellent).

KRS-One

I chilled out last night listening to Sublime Acoustic on my back porch. This is a wacky version of KRS-One

Little One

Good ol' Beck this morning.

I was listening to him very late at night while working.

Dogs Of War

This is a pretty amazing live recording of the Dogs of War and it's this morning's earworm.

Orion

Gilmore first introduced me to this power duo back in 2007. Gabriela is one of my most favorite guitarist now. Rod is okay ;)

This is their masterful cover of one of the great Metallica instrumentals.

Little Black Backpack

I heard this song a couple days ago at Jason and Erin's house. We were having a going away party for them. He hooked his Ipod and this song came on. It's so 90s!!

White Flag

I have no idea why this song was in my head this morning. I haven't heard it in a long time and I don't even own it. Weird.

Handlebars

I have a feeling I'll be posting a lot of Flobots.

There's a War Going on for Your Mind

The Flobots.

As Dan was driving me to our annual, awesome camping trip, he said, "Man, have you heard of The Flobots?"

"Yeah," I replied, "I played with those as a kid... smaller than Transformers."

"No, ass, Flobots." He popped in Fight with Tools. We listened. I was intrigued.

The way I describe them is, 1 part hip-hip beats, 1 part rapping revolution lyrics, 1 part cello. Yeah, I said cello. Cello... a freakin' cello.

Deadly Eye

I'm still unsure about The Dwarves. There are a sick, crazy, punk band. And not your grandma's punk either, it's sick, nasty punk. They make the Ramones sound like Willie Nelson. The only part of the song I recall is the start:

Deadly Eeyyyyyyyeeee!

Darrell said to me, "Hey you like punk. You should listen to The Dwarves!" The jury is still out on them.

Battery Acid

Yes, QOTSA again. I have yet to grow tired of Era Vulgaris.

This morning's lyrics:

Robots, robots
Brainwashed babies
Blood from a leech
Spoken rabies
Spastic, plastic
Battery acid.

Got My Mojo Workin'

Muddy Waters. You really can't talk about blues without mentioning Muddy Waters.

This is a great recording of one of his best, Got My Mojo Workin'. It's fun to see his stage presence.

Wildflowers

Today will be a good day.

Already Dead

Sea Change is Beck's very chill album. It's a good album to just relax to.

This morning's lyrics were:

Already dead to me now
Already dead to me now
'Cause it feels like I'm watching something die

Remember

This morning's earworm is a Ben Harper cover of a Jimi Hendrix song. Ben's version is heavy on the slide guitar. Awesome.

Going To California

I played this song about 5 times last night, just to practice it. That did the trick!

Such a great song. So simple and clean.
